Sex… A cure for the common cold?

February 11th, 2008 by shayknows

Here’s one more good reason to hit the sack and have some fun!

According to a study conducted by Queens University, having sex a few times a week can help fight colds and flu, lengthen one’s life, improve your heart health and fight depression. It appears sex improves our immune system by increasing the antibody immunoglobulin A.

Even more interesting is the study conducted by Dr Gordon Gallup. He found that women that didn’t use condoms experienced less depression. BE CAREFUL with this one. You will be depressed if you end up with an STD. But the study says that prostaglandin, a hormone found only in semen, may be absorbed in the genital track — thus modulating female hormones. The study further suggests that women may develop an addiction like feeling with a man’s semen. (Okay — now that is just a frightening thought, but could suggest some ridiculous behavior after a breakup.)

In any case, SheKnows always knew that sex was good for you. Check out our episode of “An Orgasm a Day.” It is a prescription that any woman can use… and no, a man is not required. :) Watch it here…
