Today we cover a few methods for sexy strong muscles… a tweak to your workout and camouflage. We’re also discussing mortifying mom moments and I spend a little time on my soapbox regarding the pics of Miley Cyrus. So I want to hear about your most embarrassing mom moments. I’ve had so many during the last 8 years I don’t even get embarrassed anymore. I told Zachary that he got a mention on the Dish… he was mortified. Poor kid. I’d better put a few extra dollars in the therapy fund.

Last night was fabulous. Brenda Strong, who plays Desperate Housewives ghostly Mary Alice, met with us at a cocktail party prior to her LA performance in Events of the Heart. Our interview with her, Dana Delaney and several others will be on Friday. Events of the Heart is dedicated to bringing awareness to women about heart disease. They affectionately refer to the performance as “The Angina Monologues.” Did you know heart disease is the leading killer of women? It kills more women than all cancers combined. We lose a woman every 90 seconds. And the good news is that we can do something about it! While heredity plays a tremendous role, our lifestyle can be the determining factor of whether or not we experience a life changing or deadly “heart event”.
We’ll have tips and information in the Friday show but I’m too pumped up right now to wait. Metamucil sponsored the event. Metamucil? I know when they called I said the same thing. Isn’t that for regularity? Well fiber, good nutrition and exercise are some of the primary factors in lowering cholesterol. And you can’t get much more fiber than Metamucil. Who knew?! I’m going to give the 30 Day Difference Beautify Your Heart Program a try. Won’t you join me? Oh and look for Events of the Heart performances in your community! If I have my way, SheKnows and ChiKiiTV are going to join forces with Events of the Heart founders Pamela Serure and Carole Isenberg to make it happen!
Beautify your heart and go on living beautifully! Until tomorrow!

Ok, truth be told I do! They can be confusing, frustrating and downright irritating but I can’t and don’t want to live without them. They are eternally entertaining. In today’s Dish, we find a species that has found a way to use males for nothing but play. They reproduce without any male sperm and have only girls. No, I’m not making this up. Take a look.
We’ve also got the newest power drink and we call foul on the pictures of young Emma Watson. All good. Now this isn’t in the Dish but I have to comment! Miley Cyrus. There is lots of news about the Vanity Fair shoot in which she poses in a sheet and the web pics of her and a young man getting cozy. I have only one thing to say. Miley, don’t screw this up. I have a 6 year old daughter that worships you. I’ve already had to explain that Britney has a little sickness in her head, Lindsay is confused and that Zoey aka Jamie Lyn Spears, is going to be a mommy because she lost her better judgment.
Moms of America are in need of a teen celebrity to keep it together…think Jodi Foster & Brooke Shields. Keep your crotch out of the limelight. Don’t get pregnant and please don’t look like Amy Winehouse in pics. Go to college. Have a career that grows with your maturity. When you screw up, PLEASE do it without cameras around you! Enough said on that. I’m off to LA - we’ll be doing the Daily Dish from there. Great stuff ahead!
Until then have a fabulous day!

Today on the show we’re looking at baby weight gain. Doctors recommend gaining 20-35 pounds. Pregnancy requires an additional 200-300 calories a day. Some studies show that excess weight can cause problems for mom and baby long after giving birth. But it’s not just how much but what moms eat that really counts. I had a really hard time with this. Prior to getting pregnant with my son, I was one of “those” women that only ate when she was hungry and didn’t care much for sweets. Once that little stick showed up with the double lines I became a sugar fiend. I craved Krispy Kreme donuts, tiramisu and cake… any kind of cake. And here is the really scary thing. It’s NEVER ended. I’ll give up all white refined breads and carbs but if there is a dessert near by, I swear I hear it calling my name.
But enough about my torment. If you are expecting a little indulgence is good for your emotional well being but don’t do it everyday. Your diet should be nutrient dense, that is full of good things for you and your baby. So at snack time reach for fresh fruit instead of a donut….at least most of the time. SheKnows Pregnancy has everything you need to know and a weight gain planner.
Lindsay Lohan’s 14 year old sister, Ali, has just signed on to star in a movie, Mostly Ghostly. I sigh. Ali says that she wants to do “everything” that Lindsay has done. Oh hon! Not everything! As a mom I want to give my children every opportunity to pursue their dreams. If one of them said they wanted to be an actor, I would be first person to get the lessons and support their desire. BUT watching so many young celebrity train wrecks just breaks my heart! Where is Lindsay and Ali’s mom, Dina? Oh that’s right. She is getting ready for her new reality show, Living Lohan. Have you ever noticed that celebrity parents e.g. Demi Moore or Goldie Hawn, kept their kids out of the spotlight while they were growing up? Yet parents of celebrity kids seem to not only push their kids out there but seem to be waving their hands as well. No judgment. Just noticing. Hmm…

I am a woman of few words today… not because I don’t have a lot to say but mainly because I’m short on time. Today on the show we talk about a cool diet trick and mommy stress. I’ll be back later today with more on our search for extreme moms. What is the most extreme thing you’ve ever done? What is the most extreme thing in your life?
Shay
p.s. Did anyone notice that The Today Show covered the book, My Beautiful Mommy this morning? Yeah we did that story yesterday!
Did you miss it? We did that days ago!
